Built in a neo-gothic style, the churh is of genuine stone. NO 3. HOUSES OF PARLIAMENT
In the Company Gardens
This impressive building is in the Greek revival style. Government buildings often take on the form of the Parthenon as it has the rigth connotations! DELVILLE WOOD MEMORIAL
Built to honour the South African soldiers who died in the war in France. Several soldiers and a horse are placed on a dome held by columns. With Table Mountain in the background this has become an iconic symbol of the Company Gardens and the heart of Cape Town.

CENTRE FOR THE BOOK
This building is decicated to reading in South African and supports local libraries. The rose garden to the front of it is a special place, where tranquility greats the traveller through the bustling city.

THE RHODES MEMORIAL
This important historical landmark was built to honour the famous Cecil John Rhodes who did much to establish the colony at the Cape.

THE BO KAAP MUSEUM
Built to honour the slaves who worked for no pay, to bring about the colony in its early days. Slavery was seen as normal by the European settlers of the time. It is a practice that has thankfully been abolished in modern times. The wavy parapet wall of this museum is disctinctive.

DECORATIVE VINES
The way that the architectural arch in the garden wall is seen through the space created by the pergola - all softened by decorative vines and ivy - creates a very special space.
