THE WESTERN GABLE
Equal in beauty to the Eastern gable, this side is framed by an avenue of oak trees. The lightly arched window together with the cottage pane windows softens the facade.

SIMONSBERG
From the Eastern gardens the profile of Simonberg Mountain becomes visible. It was named after Simon van der Stel the first governer of Stellenbosch. The bright pink "veggies" are indigenous and brightly coloured flowers.

4. RUSTENBERG
On your way to see Lanzerac and Boschendal, be sure to stop at this beautiful hidden gem - Rustenberg. The Peninsula style gable is a smaller version of that built at Groot Constantia, and features a protruding middle section.

CELLAR AT RUSTENBURG
The wine cellar is built in a geourgian style with Cape Dutch reference, that echos the manor home at nearby Uitkyk farm. The interaction of the buildings and scenery in this age old farm is nothing short of breathtaking.

GATES AT RUSTENBURG
The farm entrance gates are usually an eloborate demarcation of place and Rustenberg is no exception.

5. RHENISH PARSONAGE
The gable is in the neoclassical style, which has pilasters either side of the gabe window and topped with urns. The stoep (verandah) with pergoda provides the perfect connection of the interior spaces with the garden outside.

GABLE AT RHENISH
A lovely feature of the style from an architectural point of view.. is the low walls that surrounded the main building and gardens and served to demarcate this space as the domain of the owner. Architecturally these create layered sense of space.

GATE AT RHENISH
The bell tower served to summon slaves to their duties, but in modern times it is used to celebrate the weddings that often take place at these beautiful relics of the past.
